Taking a more personal look at the people behind the deviantART admin symbols.

agorf :bulletblue: :iconagorf: :bulletwhite:

How did you first discover deviantART?

:bulletblue: I think it was while searching for pixel art. It was a long time ago. :-)

What was it about dA that made you want to stay?

:bulletwhite: Actually, it wasn't until 2004 that I created an account. I think I started being a dA regular ever since my interest about art was revived. I stayed simply because I found dA to be the biggest and best art community in existence.

What is the story behind your username?

:bulletblue: It has been my username ever since I started using the Internet. It's composed of the first two letters of my name, concatenated with the first three letters
of my surname. Simple. :-)

What do you remember of your childhood in regards to art?

:bulletwhite: I used to draw a lot, and from what I can remember, people used to say that I was pretty good at it. I also spent a few months attending courses in a local art school (as a hobby). As for digital art, my first steps were with the paint program of the first computer I ever used, an Amstrad CPC 6128.

Was there anything or anyone in particular that prompted your choice of art form?

:bulletblue: Maybe the fact that small children draw a lot (regardless of whether they are
good at it or not) and imitate one another. My (current) interest in photography
was sparked by viewing beautiful photographs on dA. :-)

Who or what motivates you to continue creating?

:bulletwhite: The need to create art comes and goes, actually. I don't draw that much anymore;
I'm more into photography. :-) I've found that I submit photos whenever I go
hiking. So it's probably whenever I get the chance to be in a place that I find
to be beautiful, and capture it. Nature. :-)

Of your own work, which has the most meaning to you and why?

:bulletblue: Two photographs. One is "Ever Ascending" and the other one is "Almost Fake" (both available in my dA gallery). The first because it marks a point in my life where my perspective changed and I started getting out more. ^^ The second because it was taken on a sad day, a few months before losing someone I love.

What are the duties and title of your role as an admin of deviantART?

:bulletwhite: I'm a developer in dT (devious Technology -- it's how we call our IT team), and
I mostly do backend stuff. This means I get to work more on the
behind-the-scenes aspects of the site (things that have to do mostly with the
server), rather than the visual ones (presentation). When I'm not working on a
project, I squash bugs in Team Reactor.

What can your reveal of projects you are working on for deviantART? Personal projects?

:bulletblue: The project I just finished working on has to do with the iPhone (and not only) and it is going to be announced/released soon. :-) As for my personal projects, they are available in my homepage.

Why did you decide to become an admin of deviantART?

:bulletwhite: I'm an admin merely because my work requires it (to test stuff etc). The biggest incentive to work for dA was to gain experience, and to become better at what I do. I also knew the environment in dA was great from my friend and former co-worker in dA, dionyziz.

As an admin, what do you want to achieve short term? Long term?

:bulletblue: To keep making deviantART better and better in every aspect.

What theatrical movies did you enjoy most?

:bulletwhite: "Remember the Titans" was pretty good. And Capote. Yeah, I rent DVDs. :-)

:thumb87553586:

What films in the devaintART Film Gallery do you enjoy most?

:bulletblue: Abstract/experimental most of the times. For examples, refer to my favourites.

What type of music do you listen to? (Specific groups/artists?)

:bulletwhite: Trance mostly, but I listen to almost everything if I find that I like it. My favourite artists (that I can recall): Armin van Burren, Sean Tyas, Markus Schulz, Andy Moor, Daft Punk, Vangelis.

Which books could you just not put down?

:bulletblue: Dan Brown's "Deception Point" and Apostolos Doxiadis' "Uncle Petros and Goldbach's Conjecture".

What foods can you just never seem to resist? Drinks?

:bulletwhite: Pasta, sweets. As for drinks, I love orange juice!

What are your pet peeves on dA and in general?

:bulletblue: I wouldn't say I have. :-)

One fact about yourself that few know about?

:bulletwhite: Even though I'm a pretty shy and quiet person, I like to tease people. :-)

What tips can you offer to better oneself in his or her art? In life?

:bulletblue: I'm not that suitable to offer a tip about art, because I don't consider myself to be an artist. And I'm pretty young to offer a tip about life. :-) What I know though is that in order to excel at your thing, you need to love what you do.
And in order to do that, you first need to find what you love.

On any given day, what does your schedule look like? And how often do you meet up with other deviantART $taff members? Oh, and what's your favorite pokemon? ;p asks shadowed-light-waves

:bulletwhite: I wake up at around 8-9AM, briefly check my computer, have a shower, get dressed, grab a bite and go to university. When my courses are over, I return home and have lunch. Then I sit in front of my computer and code until the clock says 3am or 4am. I then go to bed. When I have some free time, I watch movies or read a book. More rarely, I go out to meet friends or go hiking. :-)

I meet with other dA staff members maybe once or twice per year.

As for pokemons, I'm too old to have a favourite, but if I have to answer, I'd say Mudkips (hint: April 1st, 2008).

Is there anything else you wish to say?

:bulletblue: Find what you love. Do it. Have fun in the process. :bulletblue: :bulletwhite:

Thank you agorf for assisting in building this great place for us!!!
